The Many Reasons For Retiring In South Florida

By Jony Mozen

People work all their lives, have to deal with traffic, raising children and so on. Life can get pretty hectic and when people reach their golden age, it's time to rethink things. This is the time where they need to lay back and enjoy the rest of their lives in the ideal location. Below find the top reasons for retiring in South Florida.

The sunshine state lures both Americans from the north, and Canadians for many reasons. For one thing, and the main thing, is that they prefer to retire in South Florida because of the better weather conditions. Having had to deal with brutal northern winters for most of their lives, this climate is much more inviting and comfortable. What's more is that it has beautiful pristine beaches with healthy saltwater to swim in.

Known as the sunshine state for reason, seniors can get their doses of vitamin D and maintain their level of health or even improve it. Vitamin D is a very important vitamin that helps ease the absorption of other vitamins that can greatly impact one's life. Lower levels of this vitamin can actually bring on chronic illnesses.

The state itself is well known for its abundance of retirement communities, which attracts even more seniors. This is the place where they can socialize and come together. Being well maintained communities, they give seniors the opportunity to enjoy life through planned activities, fantastic restaurants, golf courses and more. Furthermore, many are close to the Gulf of Mexico, allowing for more active seniors to enjoy fishing or sailing without having to travel great distances.

Not everyone flocks to this state to retire in a community, and that's all right. In fact many prefer to live in single-family homes. Thankfully, Florida has lots of affordable options, so this can be attainable for most people who are independent. Although the state is known for its beaches, there are other smaller towns situated inland that appeal to many retirees as well.

Having said all that, many simply find South Florida a great place to retire because of its property tax exemptions. Declaring their permanent home as a legal residency is easy, which will then provide them with those tax exemptions. Tax exemptions equal savings.

These tax exemptions on property when listed as one's primary residence, can be as high as $50,000. In doing so, seniors find their life's earnings will last longer. In this way, they won't have to make serious adjustments to their lifestyles.

This helps them tackle their bucket list. They get to enjoy company, numerous activities, and year-round day trips. It's probably the reason that about 900 people retire to this area each day! New residents can also turn to the Chamber of Commerce to relocate successfully.

With so many new arrivals of retirees, one is almost guaranteed a healthy social life. It's not unreasonable for people in northern areas to stay indoors and be alone because the weather restricts them from getting out and about. This loneliness affects people's minds and their physical state gravely and statistics have proven seniors are healthier when they are more active and social.
