Importance Of Marine Transport In The Transport Industry

By Dorothy Nelson

Transportation is a significant factor that is always required in our daily activities. However, there is demand for increased marine transport facilities because of its superiority in the distribution of heavy goods in long distances and different coastal areas. The following are the advantages that make it be considered superior

It provides low risk of loss. The goods carried by the ships are less exposed to accidents because accidents are rarely experienced during the transportation process, e. G., oil spills. All people require the means that is more secure, reliable and effective transportation that keeps his goods safe from any interference. Marine traffic hence provides much more security as compared to the other means.

It prevents issues of environmental contamination. Noise is one factor that pollutes the environment. However marine transporting machines are made with engines that make them move smoothly on water without producing much sound that causes noise pollution. That is contrary to other modes of transportation, e. G., vehicles and trains that provide the roaring sound that pollutes the environment and makes the surrounding to be unfriendly.

Shipping is an economical mode of transporting heavy loads. Everybody always requires efficient and cheap means of transport. The cost of constructing and maintaining the ships or any water transportation material is low. It is because of readily available equipment such as wood. However, trucks and trains use materials such as metallic bodies. Therefore, it makes it more economical as compared to other means of transport like trucks and trains which are made up of expensive metals and equipment.

sea transportation has made a trade in distant lands to be comfortable. Transportation of heavy goods in long distances has made it possible for traders to quickly move with their products in longer intervals to carry out the trade. Therefore, has promoted international exchange of goods among traders that live in distant coastal areas and different continents too.

Marine transportation enables access to distant areas and transportation of bulky goods between the coastal regions. Transportation to long distances with bulky goods has contributed majorly to the long-distance exchange of goods. Traders find it easy to move longer distances with their heavy products to meet with their fellow traders so that they can exchange their goods hence promoting international trade.

Transportation is more tolerant as compared to trucks and trains. Rigid nature of traveling conditions makes transport difficult sometimes. However, marine traffic can be easily altered in case of any change of circumstances, e. G., moving from one area to another that may be as a result of weather conditions. That is made possible due to its flexible nature of the sea in that direction can be changed easily without difficulties. Therefore, makes marine transportation more tolerant.

sea transportation is efficient for carrying a large number of goods. The space available is sufficient enough to cater for a lot of products. The water bodies such as the sea are large hence providing adequate space where any big ship can move without disturbances. Therefore, makes water transportation more efficient for ferrying many goods.
