The Perfectly Affordable Dragon Force RG65

By Juana Gamble

The Dragon Force yacht recently entered the radio controlled sailing market. The RG65 was created with specific motives in mind. The designers at RC Yachts wanted to provide people who showed interests of joining the sport with an alternative sailing machine. The idea was to provide a competition boat that would be affordable for sailing hobbyists who may not continuously keep up with the sport.

The foundation of the Dragon Force design is based on the "Ice" boat created by Mark Dicks. The "Ice" boat is a huge success in the market, but is aimed at serious racers who compete or use frequently. The keel of this alternative is aluminum and fits perfectly in its hull, the standard deck includes pre-fitted sheeting, and all the electronics are located right under the deck. The electronics include the 2.4GHz radio, the rudder, and the winch servo.

The rig is built in consideration of all the RC yacht class rules. Two smaller rigs are also placed to aid in the smooth performance and control. This is an interesting addition which isolates the design and functionality of the rigs from other competitors.

A fully built yacht weighs about 1,200g. It is small and light, and performs exceptionally well in fast breezes due to the unique rig and hull. Additionally, it's very easy to put together. Using the descriptive manual, you will only need about 2 or 3 hours to put the whole boat together.

These type of yachts navigate efficiently due to the option of more turning controls and light weight. It's great for new RC boat racers as well because it's quite affordable compared to other yachts. The Dragon Force is a simple RC boat priced quite low compared to its competition. However, because it is basic, you will need to make a few upgrades on it if you want to race competitively.

Dragon Force critics have pointed out that the materials used to make this yacht is cheap and unsatisfactory. Instead of a carbon keeled hub, it uses an aluminum keel. Also, the hub material is weaker and of lower quality, often times causing it to become thin at the bow section.

The Dragon Force is the perfect boat for new sailors though, and the motivation behind purchasing this yacht outweighs the criticism of its performance and make. When you buy this boat, you don't expect it to be a top notch radio sailing yacht that will help you win competitions. This is a boat for newbies who have a passion for RC sailing and want to gain more experience.

If your occasional hobby turns into a serious competitive sport, you will not mind paying 10x more for a high quality RC yacht. However, when you are just enjoying yourself, this yacht should fit you perfectly. Start with this boat and make your changes when your passion starts to grow.

Spare parts and great customer support have been offered for this model. These features aim to insure the yacht's long-lasting standing in the yacht market. It is also a vital measure to keep customer loyalty to the product when problems arise.
