By Dominique Martin

All these breath-taking destinations of South America are a very good reason for visiting this part of the world. There are different types of tours organized in this area, and Machu Picchu Iguazu Falls Tours are probably among the most exciting ones. They are interesting, educational and really unique.

Surrounded by subtropical rain forest, with over two thousand different vascular plants, Iguazu Falls are made up of numerous breath-taking cascades. The waterfall is semicircular, eighty meters high and almost three kilometers wide. This is certainly one of the most spectacular waterfalls not only in South America, but in the world.

On the one side of the Iguazu river there are Argentinian National reserves and parks, on the other side is Brazil. The river is actually the southern border of Brazilian Iguacu National park. Spanning the border between these countries, this extraordinary series of powerful cascades will positively make you speechless. The jungle surrounding this amazing site is full of various animals, including jaguars and howler monkeys, and especially large variety of birds.

The striking beauty of this entire region will positively take your breath away. The waterfall is simply stunning, both visually and acoustically. Large clouds of water drops, lush vegetation and numerous endemic plants and animals, all this together make one really unforgettable experience.

A guided visit to famous Machu Picchu is also included in the tour. Made in fifteenth century, probably by the emperor Pachacuti, this beautiful city is one of the most interesting places to see here. It was inhabited for maybe a hundred years or so. Besides being damaged by time, weather and seismic activities, it is very well preserved. Even the sacred rocks are still there, thanks to the fact Spanish did not know about this city.

This amazing place was hidden for centuries, surrounded by the jungle. One American historian, Hiram Bingham, found it in 1911. He was a history professor on the Yale University. After that, he became obsessed by this great place and wrote several books about it. His book The Lost City Of The Incas made him quite popular.

Declared as a historical sanctuary by the Peruvian Government, the site and the surrounding area are now the integral part of UNESCO's World Heritage List. This amazing masterpiece of architecture is beautiful and unique testimony of this intriguing civilization. Some damaged parts had to be reconstructed, to give you an idea how all this looked like a few centuries ago.

There were so many theories about this lovely place. Hiram Bingham himself had a few. He believed it was the Lost City, as well as that it was a temple devoted to Sun Virgins. The site is surrounded with sacred landscape, and that's why some people believe the city was built to honor this sacred ground. Some scientists think it was made for royal retreat. Just to mention that the real Lost City is Espiritu Pampa.

Umamba River surrounds it on three sides. There is a secret entrance there, once used by their soldiers. They made a rope bridge across the river, and this is an example or Inca's architecture. Coming here is a real treat. The buildings are extraordinary, the view is stunning and surrounding nature is breath-taking. If you enjoy architectural sights, this is a place for you.
