Enhance Your Current Skills By Following A Quilting Blog

By Patty Goff

Taking time to enjoy the creative part of ones personality offers a sense of personal satisfaction. Whether you like working with clay, knitting or painting, expressing yourself through this media can be a very relaxing activity. Enjoying a Quilting Blog can provide information on your craft, enhance your current skill level and allow the creative juices to flow.

Talking to others that enjoy and share your interests provides the opportunity to build friendships. It also lays a wonderful foundation for learning new techniques as well as getting unique and creative ideas from other people. This offers an opportunity to learn what others are doing and it opens up the creative process that includes colors and textures.

Centuries ago, it was not uncommon to meet in groups to share and discuss a common interest. Women would share a new knitting technique, or a new recipe among her friends. It was a time to enjoy each others company while sharing a common craft. This provided good conversation, laughter and excitement over learning something new, all of which fostered friendships.

Today, with all the new electronics and online availability, a new way of communicating and learning has arrived. Many people have established their own blogs, where they talk and discuss a particular subject matter online. Although it does not offer a face to face relationship, many are finding this an easy and fun way to learn new techniques on a common craft without the obligation of finding the time outside their home.

Although communicating on the internet seems a bit impersonal, it really is quite efficient. Especially if the blog is something that is more about teaching a technique. Unlike a classroom or learning one on one, you can go back and review the episode that you need in order to see what may have been missed. This is a great teaching tool and one that is of great help to those who have memory problems.

There is a level of communication even with online interaction. Bloggers welcome curiosity from their fans. They invite questions and comments and enjoy interacting and discussing subjects with them. They enjoy the feedback that is offered and often use that as a learning tool for themselves, which in turn, improves their blog.

Taking notes and keeping a journal is a great idea for those who are serious about their craft. Blogs can always be reviewed in the future but having a notebook available for a quick reference is helpful.

In this day and age, there are so many ways to enjoy and learn new crafts that does not require leaving home or taking up a large amount of time. With the demands that we have with our careers and families as well as finding time for ourselves, we often are very limited on what we can do for the pure enjoyment of it. Following someone online and learning about their unique craft and how to implement it into the craft you are doing opens up an entirely new classroom for us all.
