Discovering A Love For Paranormal Tourism

By Tammie Caldwell

When it comes to ghostly sightings, there are believers and there are skeptics. While some find it annoying, many individuals find it hard to believe in something paranormal like demons and ghosts, that is unless one experiences it first hand through Paranormal Tourism. A form of tourism which focuses on different aspects of the supernatural which can often be proven, either by sightings or through the use of equipment.

The introduction of spirits into the mainstream started quite some time ago, then was later enhanced in the 20th century by movies like Ghost and Ghostbusters. Back To The Future, Phenomenon and other films which reveal the supernatural in ways that could never be real have a part in creating this skepticism. Though, at the same time, offer pretty good insight into the ghostly, otherworldly and tragic aspects of aliens, demons, ghost and vampires.

It seems a number of ghost tours are located in areas with a great deal of history. Whether a soldier from the civil war, or a bride whom jumped to her death, there are often stories which accompany each sighting. One reason the skeptics tend to question the reality of the supernatural, especially when no backup documentation is available related to the tale associated with a haunting.

The ghost tour at the Alamo is different than many others in that the tour guides allow the tourists to use various paranormal equipment during the 90 minute tour. The equipment is most often distributed at the beginning of the tour in which the guests are allowed to tour the grounds of the Alamo in search of various responses to electromagnetic meters and other items. After which, the tour guide then takes the parties to other sites which have reported sightings.

While aliens, UFOs and vampires are much harder to prove than ghosts, there are those who claim to have either been abducted, or having seen an alien empire. Once these aliens surface, perhaps then and only then will tourists be allowed in the underground tunnels and empires which are rumored to exist underneath the streets of many cities and towns. As for vampires, this will probably be the hardest aspect of the supernatural to prove even though there are currently tours in New Orleans, Louisiana and other cities related specifically to these dark creatures of the night.

Visitors to the Queen Mary can board and tour the ship either with a guide, or at times, without. Most often those whom roam the ship alone report a sighting of some form or the other. Whereas, those on the ghost tour get a description of all sightings which have been known to take place. Whether believer, skeptic or uncertain, this is rumored to be one of the most haunted locations and one of the best tours in southern California.

New Orleans, Louisiana, Savannah, Georgia, St. Augustine, Florida and other areas of the south are reported to have the most sightings. From graveyards to oil wells, hotels to lighthouses, bars to restaurants, all have reported ghostly activity. Individuals wanting to take a supernatural tour may want to make reservations as most are quite popular.

Whether one believes in the supernatural or otherwise, taking a ghost or vampire tour can be a great deal of fun. For those whom believe in UFOs and aliens, visiting Area 51 near Roswell and White Sands, New Mexico can provide for a fun outing. When it comes to vampires, taking a vampire tour in New Orleans, Louisiana may be as close as one can get to meeting a vampire.
