A British Columbian archipelago, or island chain is fast becoming a well known and frequented tourist spot in the world. However, do not just pack your bags just yet and make any of several Haida Gwaii accommodations packages. Get to know more about the kinds of activities that are available before setting out.

One of the prime reasons why this archipelago is becoming a tourist attraction is it is one of the best, if not the best place to go whale watching the whole year round. Many enthusiasts, curious tourists, scientists and students come here throughout the year to view several whale species which include the humpback whale, the gray whale and the killer whale. Depending on the season, one can more or less can have frequent sightings per hour. It is thus best to do a little more research when wanting to see the most of the whales at any one time.

It would be expected that a majority of activities will involve water, but you can have a lot of land based activities as well to make your visit worthwhile. This is due to the fact that the Haida also inhabit the Alaskan regions. Totems are made to record the histories of families that live in the area.

If you really want to explore all the islands and immerse yourself in its culture, then prepare to spend at least four days in total. These four days will afford you time to visit each of the communities on the island and all the museums. Also you will have ample time to visit some local crafts shops which deal with the bent wood furniture techniques, which is well known amongst North American tribes.

It is really quite simple in terms of getting to this hidden paradise. All one has to do is to book a one of the regular flights out of Toronto for a two hour plane ride. For those who are looking for a more adventurous and scenic alternative, then it would not hurt o take the ferry or charter a boat out to the archipelago.
