Florida gets a lot of tourists due to its wonderful warm weather and its beautiful natural environment. One common activity that most people engage in is camping because the State has parks that offer great sites. One of the popular sites is the Suwannee River campground. It provides a great way to bring people together and appreciate the natural peaceful world.

Suwannee River is long and covers about 246 miles in length. It is home to great historical cultures. As you move along it, you can see mounds of earth works that were built as defense during the nineteenth century Civil War. It is also home to the oldest cemeteries of the nineteenth century inhabitants and there is a paddle wheel shaft from the historic steamboat. The stream is part of the Suwannee River State Park.

A unique aspect of the stream is the wilderness trail that surrounds it. There a lot of recreations activities that occurs along the river. While camping, a person can also engage in hiking through the historic sites and the wilderness trial. The Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge offers campers the opportunity to observe birds and other wild life in their natural habitats. Other activities that a person can also do include fishing, canoeing and hunting.

There are many campgrounds in Suwannee each with a strategic location that has something unique to offer from the nature. Most campgrounds provide opportunities for activities mentioned above and it is up to the camper to research and pick the one that offers activities that interest him or her. Most grounds or companies offer various amenities such as restrooms, hot showers, drinking water and sanitary dumps among others.

Facilities that are common in most campsites include stores, fire pits, hot water, electricity, flush toilets, boat ramps or canoes, picnic tables, grills and sports facilities. In primitive camping however, there are no toilets and electricity and in some cases drinking water.

Camping varies from one state to another. In Florida, there are some regulations that govern this activity. It is illegal to provide food for the wild and aquatic life and as mentioned above, there are rules that govern hunting, boating and fishing. Some campsites have age limitations and only allow adults.

Some campsites gear their activities to favor a certain group of people. You will find some sites recommending their place for families or large groups such as schools and organizations. Each ground has its own rules which may include maintaining of silence at late night hours, self disposal of waste and use of camp fire. Some of the rules are basic common sense regulations. For example, one is supposed to assume the river water is unhealthy and avoid taking it.

To ensure your vacation goes as scheduled, make your reservation early in advance. The bookings can be made through the internet or the office. It is wise to do a thorough search before settling for a particular place. It is also important that you know the services that you will get during your holiday.
