By Cynthia Schmidt

Accidents will occur once in a while to those persons who love mountain climbing and skiing and need someone to come and help them. All countries that have activities going on in the mountains involving human beings are supposed to establish rescue team which will be called upon whenever an incident has occurred and need help immediately. These individuals need to be properly trained and equipped and are commonly known as the mountain search and rescue team.

Mountains subsist in different types. Some are stony; some got high altitude, snowfall, ice, and many other types. These features decide which procedure shall be applied in the mission. Mountains are either short whilst others are elevated. All these features always get considered vigilantly before the instigation of the assignment. The rescuer life ought to never be put at risk therefore the call for for suitable planning.

There are different types of equipment used during thee rescues and as earlier mentioned, it depends on the type of mountain. In difficult and remote areas, most countries are preferring use of helicopters and they are quite effective. They are fast while extracting casualties from wherever they may be. They use search dogs to ensure that no casualty is left behind as it is trained to identify human beings at a distance.

Rescuers are either volunteers or professionals who get paid in various states. Having a strong heart is a requirement for this task looking at the risks involved. The purpose of having strong hearts as opposed to weak ones is because some casualties being rescued might be injured badly and others may be dead. During the training sessions, sufficient guidance to deal with such shocks is offered.

A place that requires high expectations is where you get rescuers who get remunerated. For that mission with slighter demands, you get volunteers in big numbers. The unpaid helper is frequently the guide and locals that got the information about the mountain so they work in collaboration with specialized rescuers to recover casualties. In most instances, the salvage task is not charged but in other states they do so.

The reason as to why they charge in some countries is to cater for the expenses they incurred to ensure that the mission was a success. For example the helicopters need to be maintained and every other equipment used. Some of the equipments get spoilt during the process and new ones have to be purchased and the rescuers need to be paid too.

During the rescue operations, helicopters can crash leading to more losses being incurred. The causes of these are usually due to bad weather. They have to look for another alternative which at times includes sending another helicopter to accomplish the mission. This explains why the operation is often deemed risky.

For this procedure to be triumphant, the rescuer has to endure serious preparations and get appropriate gears. Skiers and hikers must be extra vigilant as they undertake their activities. Ensure you have rescuers contacts so you can notify them lest of a crisis.
