An Excerpt About Previous Occurrences During Leaving Homes As Highlighted In Personal Memoirs Examples

By Virginia Lee

It is never easy for one to leave their loved ones behind. The happy memories that are usually associated with one abode are not easy to erase or forget, and this is what makes leaving home harder. Personal memoirs examples are written in nostalgia to help an individual access the memories of individuals that they left behind.

One of the most memorable things about departing away from family even for a while is the dinner that was usually prepared as the last supper. Every member of the family is required to attend if they were not too busy and mostly no one missed the meal. Tears would flow freely around the table especially if an individual were leaving for a long period perhaps to attend college.

When one announced their intention to go away from home for a while, past grudges were forgiven and transgression forgotten. Love was in plenty during this period especially if the duration that one was going to be away was long. The uncertainty helped heal many wounds.

Packing bags was a tedious and slow process, and occasionally, parents would drop in to check on an individual and offer words of encouragement and tit bits of advice on how to tackle life when away from home. In retrospect, the process was slow since at the back of one mind, leaving close friends and relatives was not easy.

There was also the excitement that hit ones like a wave on learning that they were leaving home to go to a new geographical location with new people, new cultures, and different scenery. To avoid hurting the individuals who were left behind, one had to be sure to bottle all the excitement inside.

Parents by nature are always worried about their children and as such were the ones that were hit most by the leaving. If one were traveling to a distance that was too far from home, they would try in vain to convince one to choose a location that was closer to home. Due to the high levels of emotion, practical and impractical advice was offered, and one had to take it all in stoically.

Friends would understand one joy in going to a new geographical location to explore the nature of life in these places. Leaving some friends behind was hard and emotions at times run high. The fun part was when they were offering advice on how to tackle life in the new place with some of the advice being useful and practical while other parts were just naughty.

On entering the vehicle that was to take one away from home, that is when reality sunk in that an individual was leaving their loved ones behind. Saying goodbye was always the hardest part. Kisses and hugs would be exchanged as tears flowed and promises of sending postcards and keeping in touch were made. This was always a bittersweet moment since, on the one hand, one was leaving all they had come to value in the in the world behind, while on the hand, a new chapter with new prospects for the future was opening.
