A quick Google search on what makes up or better yet what can be defined as a barge will educate you in the following manner The answer the search engine will most likely turn up is that a barge would be classified as long flat boat that is specifically designed to carry some sort of cargo, most likely across fresh water under its own power or towed by another boat and got all the boating accessories needed.

Barges are just very large pontoons. Pontoons can and often are used for fishing. Making for an ideal vessel to catch the Kraken. Barges, on the other hand, are very much bigger and the types of uses they have are mostly industrial. With all of the requirements close by, an empty spot should be picked to lay down the wood in order to form a frame. A ladder frame is the simplest as it requires parallel pieces of wood to form a ladder-like structure when laid across one another. Be mindful to leave enough space for the barrels to sit in between the gaps of the ladder-like frame.

Liquid Cargo barges are the complete opposite of what dry cargo vessels are. These ships specialize in carrying fright that, as the name says is wet in its nature. This includes but is not limited to petrochemicals and fertilizers from one state to another through the channel of large rivers available throughout the US of A.

If the money is there, consider the installation of an outboard motor. It should make traveling from shoreline to shoreline so much easier but it will add weight, so the necessary precautions need to be taken in order to counteract the weight. The addition of a ballistic tank for those individuals who are much more experience or building a bigger vessel but for those starting out with a small boat, extra plywood should help.

But then again, one shouldn t put themselves in debt if you consider using the boat mainly for fun, otherwise you may consider making some profit with little transport, in that case, an engine could be a good investment.

There are many ways in which a barge can be customized, it all depends on the use and how it will be operated. With enough creativity, these floating land masses can be converted to almost anything.
