The Values Of Nepal Camping

By Brenda Adams

Countless individuals enjoy outdoor activities. Specifically, people love spending time exploring the natural environment during hiking, camp activities or just nature walk. If Nepal camping is not controlled by a set of principles, then visited areas would suffer from several effects. Such include littering, soil erosion, water pollution and invasion of strange species. Notably, the majority of visitors do not intend to cause this but find themselves doing it unknowingly. To prevent it, there are numerous principles that should help. These are described below.

Before embarking on a trip, stakeholders ought to know what areas will be visited, the best routes as well as resting points. They should research on what requirements ought to be met to be allowed in a particular site. Additionally, group members must be notified of what to carry. Planning ahead of a visit enables visitors to understand an area preventing the need for replicating sites and routes. It prepares individuals to carry only what is necessary for minimizing baggage that would end up being left in the forest.

A forest consists of varying terrains. Some are prone to erosion and flooding. Others are strong, plain and well drained. While scouting for venues to set up tents, the latter works best. Most commonly, such land will be found in previously inhabited sites. Else, gravel, rock or grassy surfaces will have this type of terrain. Actual tent area should be about two hundred feet from water sources preferably downstream. Only clear vegetation where it is a necessity. Instead of creating new trails to accommodate most of the group members while walking, use an existing one walking a single file.

Any waste generated during your stay should be disposed of properly. If a campsite does not require individuals to carry their own waste for disposal, holes that are six inches deep should be used to dump it. While selecting spots for digging these holes, ensure it is far from a water source. Visitors have to carry packaging bags to put food leftovers for proper dumping. Since soap contaminates water, utensils or bathing water may not be scattered in waterways.

Lighting campfires is one of the most memorable as well as destructive activities. First, fire can spread out so fast burning existing vegetation. Secondly, fire kills microorganisms responsible for a number of activities such as soil aeration. Thirdly, it exposes the surface to erosion through wind or flowing water. As much as possible, campfires must be reduced.

Individuals will be tempted to carry some items they find interesting. This is not permitted. Preservation of historic artifacts for future generations is key. Thus, take photos if need be but avoid touching any of them. Establishing buildings or structures and leaving them behind is also not allowed.

Understand that animals too want their freedom and peace while grazing or hunting. Hence your presence should not deny them this. Visitors must maintain the recommended distance while watching them. Hunting for campers is illegal and could warrant an arrest. It is not advisable to carry pets along.

If there are other visitors in the same area, treat them with respect. Do not tamper with personal belongings especially if their resting zone is close to your site.
