There's More To It Than Pressing The Shutter

Fulfil that innermost desire to see the world and travel to different locations while doing what you love and getting paid for it. If you're keen on becoming a destination wedding photographer, read on for some tips which may come in handy as you travel to the next destination playing a big role in one of the most important occasions in the lives of a couple.

First of all, always travel light. You would only need one camera body and a spare. Aside from those, you likewise need to bring your lenses and lights. Charge your gadgets before you leave but pack the chargers and extra batteries in the bag too. And speaking of the bag, make sure that it's sturdy enough to provide the right amount of protection to your equipment. Also consider the possibility that you would have to endure rigors on the road that is why you should carefully secure your equipment. Your bag should also keep the gadgets safe from the elements.

See to it that you have a copy of the schedule. Follow it. Be on time but be flexible enough should there be any modifications which must be made along the way. Familiarise yourself with the area and know your way around before the big day comes.

Arrive at the venue days in advance so that you have an adequate amount of time to prepare. Do a site survey and practice shooting at various angles. Also check if there are spots which would serve as good locations to take photographs of the couple, their family, friends and other guests. Plan your approach then ask your clients about their comments and suggestions.

Before the wedding day, find time to discuss important matters with your client. Use this time to bond with them so that each of you can act more comfortably towards each other. Being at ease with one another will translate in images that depict your subjects being simply themselves as if not camera is watching their every move.

Lastly, keep in mind that renting a car is important when you are doing Destination Wedding Photography. Never take such consideration for granted. You may have to drive somewhere or meet people up at particular locations. And while you are at a certain site for a shoot, make the most out of that opportunity to photograph other things of interest to you. You can add those images in your portfolio. Treat such opportunity as a chance to further hone your skills. That would serve you well as you continue pursuing you career in wedding photography.
