Get Your Festive Season Started With Help From The Top Wisconsin Christmas Tree Farms

By Essie Osborn

In the American State of Wisconsin, first ever farm for growing Christmas trees opened. The farm is situated on an area of about 10 acres and before the festive season, you can buy live coniferous trees of any kind and size there. Sales happen only in December, but the work on the planting and cultivation of the plants is done at Wisconsin Christmas tree farms during the other eleven months of the year.

There are two possibilities for choosing a live plant. Each person makes a pick according to their preferences and options, so you can choose one, which after the holiday can be planted in the park or cultivated in a pot on the terrace during the rest of the year. If you do not want to store it throughout the year, you can choose any type of coniferous plant that you like. Buy it a few days before the holiday and after this, plant it in a nearby park or in nature.

Year after year, more and more people put these festive trees in their homes, and they have become a constant companion to the holidays. Today, you can not imagine this holiday without a traditional plant, with all the lights and trimmings. For years, people have been using fir-trees, felled pine or spruce.

The planting of these trees is not difficult, although it requires physical effort for digging a hole in the soil, especially if you don't have good tools. Before that, of course, it is better to make a good selection of a suitable location, which would be good to be relatively overshadowed by other trees, but at a sufficient distance from them. That is exactly what they do at the special dedicated farms in Wisconsin.

Contrary to those who believe that the use of artificial trees helps to save the forests and agricultural lands, some manufacturers claim that their farm is located most commonly on land that will not hold food crops and at least three seedlings are planted for each one that is harvested. It is entirely possible to buy one, planted in a pot, whose roots are intact and subsequently, you can try to replant it, or simply let it grow in the pot for the next year, but at the appropriate place. The inside of your home is not conducive to the constant growing of the plant.

It is normal for the plants to drop needles, this is a protective reaction as less leaves evaporate less water/, but just in case, check the soil moisture and reduce the temperature. Another important thing is to turn the lights off for at least a few hours a day, because they emit heat and dry the leaves out. In this respect, do not leave the plants in excessively warm conditions, and when you put it outside, remember that it needs water.

Another problem that you have to solve is the acclimatisation. The removal of the trees from the hot room directly on the cold is quite risky. Well, before you take it out, first leave it in a cool room, don't forget to water it, but if you do not have a suitable place-take it out on the indoor space in the yard on a warmer day or when the snowfall slows.

The next danger from which you have to protect the living tree is freezing the roots- this can be done with the isolation or covering of the pot. Plant it before the start of spring /March, beginning of April/because with later removal of the plant from the pot, even small damage to the roots will reflect on the new-emerging soft twigs. When it comes to the time for planting, be careful not to damage the roots.
