Tips For Choosing A Ft McMurray Camping Site

By Carl Peterson

Spending a lot of time at home during weekends and holidays can be boring. Most families, therefore, opt to spend a few nights outdoors in a natural environment. During that period, they get involved in various activities that provide them with enjoyment. When planning to take part in such outdoor activities, it is good to note the campground decision is not an easy one. The following are some tips for choosing a Ft McMurray camping site.

The first factor to consider is the ground layout. Space is very important especially if you will need more than one tent or have a bigger camping gear. The most important factors are the cooking space and a sleeping tent. When opening the camp trailer, you should not obstruct others. Maneuvering will also be a problem if space is not adequate. Pick a location based on the gear you are traveling with and the size or number of tents.

The next thing to remember is finding out the ground surface of the site. The level is very critical. No one wants to slide out of his or her bed while sleeping or be crammed against the tent walls. It is due to this reason that it is advisable to camp away from hilly areas. The nights become very uncomfortable hence affecting the activities of the next day due to lack of enough sleep or rest. Pick sites with level grounds where you can rest comfortably.

The other pointer is shade. With the right size and level of a site, the shade is the other thing to check. The shade is not needed throughout the day. It is needed in the morning. No one wants to go camping in a place where he or she will be woken by the scorching sun early in the morning. Get a site that will provide enough morning shade so that you can get enough rest.

Safety is also a thing to verify. Always check what is around you before choosing a site. Check the trees around you and ensure the branches are not very large or weak. Stay away from gum trees because their branches are weak and can fall off any time thus risking life. Be wary of camping right at water edges of floods or bugs.

Pitching a tent away from the rivers or other water sources is important. However, do not pitch tents kilometers away from the water source because it will be inconveniencing. A lot of time will be wasted looking for clean water which might interfere with the fun that you are having. Therefore, stick to areas that are proximate to rivers or water sources but where floods and bugs cannot affect you.

Conserving the environment is crucial. Going for short calls or long calls in the bush is likely to pollute the environment of your campsite. So, stick to sites or grounds that have amenities like toilets to conserve the environment and to avoid contracting diseases due to pollution.

In conclusion, privacy is also crucial. No one wants to be heard or seen by the person in the next tent. So, find out what screening is available between you and the other camps. Again, you do not want to be very far from other sites. Take time to decide on the proximity with other sites.
