What All Hikers Need On A Hike

By Frank Lately

Every year there are a lot of people that go camping for weeks on end and that number keeps on getting bigger and bigger. With more and more people going camping every single year the number of people going hiking is also going to increase along with it. The reason that this is important is because as a fellow hiker you need to know what items you should take on every hike so that you are prepared for the unexpected.

A lot of people think that as long as they have some good hiking shoes then they will be alright, trust me, you won't be alright. If you want to make sure that you are safe and have all the bases covered then you need to take the items that I list below because without them you won't have the necessary tools you need to survive in the event you get lost and have to spend the night in the wild.

Things Every Hiker Needs

Backpack - Having a backpack is really only important to carry everything that you need. When you are going hiking you want to have both hands free and the only way to do that is to have a backpack to carry all your stuff in.

Waterproof Matches - Whenever you are out in the forest you need to bring matches just in case you need to cook something or just to keep yourself warm for a while. The reason you need waterproof matches is because you don't want to get out there and have a box of wet matches that don't do anything.

Poncho - A poncho is simply there just in case you are hiking in the rain or you are stuck overnight. If you don't have a poncho then you could get sick or even get frost bite.

Bottled Water - Being that you will be out walking around, you need bottled water. The purpose of the water is to revitalize you if you become dehydrated. I don't think I need to tell you all the benefits of having water with you, right?

Compass - If you are hiking without a compass then you should not be hiking at all. You need to have at least 2 compasses just in case 1 doesn't work.

Flashlight - When you are hiking you need more than 1 flashlight. My advice is to have a small pocket flashlight and a bigger on in your bag.

If you want to make sure you are safe then taking all of these things with you is a must. Just make sure that you don't leave anything behind because you never know when you might need it.
