Hot Sauce - is it Healthy?

With a lot of myths and legends about the humble hot sauce it is no wonder that a great many people think that the sauce is not particularly healthy, while it's true that particular groups such as most people that have diabetes, woman who are planning for a pregnancy or are pregnant and people with heart conditions can have serious negative effects from eating the sauce, there are many positives and health rewards from having some hot sauce spread over your meal.

The first thing that should be noted from eating Hot Sauces as part of a healthy diet is the fact it can actually help you lose weight, the ingredients in the sauce not only push your body until it is like you are having a workout by increasing your heart rate but also the sauce itself is relatively fat free and healthy, especially if you have the sauce while you are on a calorie controlled diet. From adding the hot sauce to bland foods (which are normally healthier) you can cut down on a lot of the fatty foods from your diet ensuring that you cut down not only on the obvious fat content that your body is absorbing but also the cholesterol intake making this sauce heart friendly also.

People who are inclined to have stomach ulcers are often told to stay rightfully faraway from hot sauce because of the potential damage that the sauces can cause on the stomach, however conversely people who have bad digestion are often told (by doctors orders) to consume spicy foods including hot sauces to help aid their natural digestion. By eating hot foods regularly it can help promote blood flow via the stomach and in addition helps grow and develop healthy stomach linings!

It is not only physical effects which the chillies in hot sauce can help you with as mental illnesses can also be helped with the modest bottle of hot sauce as it has been proven by scientists that it can help the war on depression. The vast heat experienced by the body from the chillies have been found to help stimulate the brain into releasing endorphins into the body, these are the natural chemicals that the body produces and give an experience of joy. Not only do they make you cheerful but they have been considered to be "natural painkillers" and also the "runners natural high", emphasizing how this could help people that suffer from depression without having to use medication.

Another old wives tale is that to stop the common cold you take a tablespoon of hot sauce, as farfetched as this sounds there exists some truth in the story with hot sauce containing Vitamins A, B complex, C and D along with a lot of minerals meaning that if you were looking to fight off any cold or flu having regular quantities of hot sauce will help you build-up your natural defenses, although it is a bit off totally healing and curing the common cold it does go some way to help your system protect against the bugs.

Overall there may be cases when having hot sauce is negative but as seen here there's also many positive to having regular amounts of hot sauce if eaten moderately and not overdone! It can benefit with diets, help your digestion, it can even make you happy and just like your grandmother once informed you it can even be used to fight off the everyday cold!
