A hot tub, much like a jacuzzi is also filled with hot water. However for a hot tub there are no propellers within the basin of them. This slight difference makes a world of a difference when it concerns the affect the current inhabiting person feels.

They are also used in spas, resorts and rehabilitation centers. These places use them as treatments and advertise their supposed calming affect on customers. Spas typically advertise more on the calm rather than for treatment.

They are used for hydrotherapy when they're used in rehabilitation centers. Hydrotherapy is when water is used to treat, cure, or ease the pain caused by an injury or illness. There is a great turmoil over the controversy with hydrotherapy and its effectiveness.

As they are used for more rehabilitating centers they are not specifically designed for medical treatments. They are also used in spas and resorts. The idea behind their use in these spas and resorts are to create a relaxing and calm environment for the people who attend them. The belief over time from different cultures is that water has some sort of healing power and can cause a sens of calmness throughout the body. This is more prevalent in cultures that evolved in areas where hot springs naturally occur.

Since the beginning of hot tubs there has been many uses and beliefs that accompanied. It is very probable that they were developed after hot springs. When used for hydrotherapy they may be affective in treating various ailments, but it's probably best to seek medical attention regardless of how insignificant the injury seems.
