MMA Twitters You Need To Follow

By Rod Bourgoine

Twitter is fast becoming a top source of news on the planet, and if you are one of the millions of people who are both an MMA fan and have a twitter account, you probably follow at least one or two fighters. While you probably can't and shouldn't follow everyone, here are a few people that are absolutely worthy of following.

Whether you like it or not, Dana White is pretty much the big guy in MMA. You don't have to like him, but his tweeter feed is definitely worth following. He is often the first to break news about all sorts of MMA-related events and fighters. In addition, he will say just about anything and has no problem expressing himself, albeit the tweets are often heavily laced with profanity. Check out the results of a recent feud between Ken Shamrock and Dana White, which is nothing but fun.

There are many reasons to follow Joe Rogan on twitter. He likes to tweet about conspiracy theories, such as UFOs and phony moon landings. He likes to tweet about marijuana and LSD. Oh, and he's also an MMA expert and one of the sports best commentators and knows everything about MMA. He's also earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both gi and no-gi.

For the entertainment value if nothing else, Chael Sonnen is someone fun to follow. He is notorious for not being able to keep his mouth shut and has no problem insulting anyone, even entire countries. He has a well-known hatred of Anderson Silva as well as Wanderlei Silva and pretty much everyone in Brazil. Recently he has begun writing poetry on twitter, much of it dedicated to how much he doesn't like Wanderlei Silva. The two of them will be coaching The Ultimate Fighter soon, in Brazil, which should have a high entertainment factor.

Hundreds of MMA fighters have their own Twitter accounts, so there really is no shortage of good MMA quotes and information on Twitter. BJ Penn is always posting something interesting, and his website is like a little MMA world all on its own. Tito Ortiz includes tweets about everything from his take on MMA news, his training regime and quotes meant to inspire others. Ronda Rousey is another great person to follow and she definitely has no problem speaking her mind.

There are some great MMA sports reporters worth following. Loretta Hunt has been writing about MMA for more than 10 years, and her twitter feed is filled with great updates. You can count on her for great insights as well. Ariel Helwani is another sports journalist definitely worth following. He also offers links to his highly entertaining interviews with MMA fighters.
