Taking Care Of And Folding Our Flag

By Jim Thorpe

When you have an American flag in your yard, it is important that you know how you are going to show respect for the flag. There are a lot of people that struggle understanding how they are going to follow all of the rules that have been developed in our culture to respect the flag.

Patriotic songs, not a few, have been written to attempt to express the profound respect and reverence owed to the flag. It is no wonder, then, that many citizens have their own flags flying over their property, demonstrating their pride in their country. When displaying your flag, it is important to never allow the flag to touch the ground. Try to keep the flag as neat and clean as is possible.

The technology backing these devices is impressive, and offers up the possibility for a future where there is less reliance on traditional source and a focus on these alternative options. For the meantime and the near future, it is used to give life to hand held devices and homes in ways that are not immediately viable.

However, the technology bears further examination, so that people can understand what it is and what its potential is like, as well as understanding where things might go from this point. This will hopefully allow for greater proliferation of these goods, as well as opening the door for greater overall application.

When you have a light for your flag, you will then want to make sure that you are there to take your flag down if any inclement weather should arise. As you are looking through the weather forecast, you will want to take note of the days you should take your flag down.

In the Armed Forces, the procedure of folding the flag has special meaning, each fold representing something important to remember when a soldier is killed in action. The first fold made during the ceremony represents life. A second fold is then made by bringing the bottom half of the folded flag over the top half. The union should be on top now.

When you are taking the flag down and when you are putting it back up, you want to make sure that you do not let the flag touch the ground.

Houses that use solar panels usually have them on the roof, in great enough quantities that they can power an array of appliances and processes within the home. Those that live in desert or tropical climates without lots of cloud cover benefit the most from this method.

The next fold is made by bringing the point that was created by the previous fold inward. The stripes of this triangle should be parallel to the stripes on the remainder of the flag. A belief in and reliance on God, or a supreme being, is represented in this fold. As Americans we respect the religious freedom of all, and we even honor religion with our flag.

The side of the triangle created in the previous step is then folded over to the folded edge of the flag. The stripes of the triangle should again be perpendicular to those in the rest of the flag. This fold is made in honor of our country. To the citizen it represents a loyalty to country at all times.

Another alternative way to power things is through crank technology. The use of turbines has been used to generate electoral impulse for a long time, but the ability to do so is becoming more efficient and scaled down for consumer use. The flashlight is another great example in this context since it utilizes the process from much larger aspects effectively on its small scale. Emergency flashlights often have a small crank on them that people can manually power using their hands, usually for a few minutes.

Flying a flag that is dirty or needs to be mended is also a sign of disrespect and you should take time to wash the flag and fix any rips or tears in the flag as soon as they occur.

The eleventh fold bears special meaning for those of the Jewish faith. Likewise, the Christian faith is represented by the twelfth fold. Just as each of the folds made in the flag has a special meaning, our flag has a special meaning in and of itself. Honor that special meaning in the way you take care of the flag!
